Let Your Smile Bedazzle This Christmas!
‘Tis the season to indulge, but thanks to these top 10 tips, your teeth will remain in tip top condition...

1. Keep a spare toothbrush and toothpaste at work or in your bag in case of impromptu drinks and nibbles. If that isn't possible, keep a travel-size fluoride mouthwash (preferably alcohol free) to hand
2. Don't brush teeth straight after consuming sugary and acidic foods or drinks —our mouths take up to an hour to reach a normal neutral ph that is safe to brush
3. Chew sugar-free gum throughout the day or evening to allow the mouth to regain its neutral ph status more rapidly
4. Carry sugar free mints to keep breath fresh
5. Avoid drinking bubbly champagne or sparkling drinks for long periods of time; and if possible sip through a straw to avoid tooth decay
6. Avoid fruit juices and diet drinks — which tend to be heavily acidic — as they can cause tooth erosion
7. Avoid sticky and sweet nibbles as they are likely to contain high levels of enamel-damaging sugar

8. At a buffet, opt for inoffensive snacks such as breadsticks, crackers, cheese and nuts to minimize the impact on your teeth
9. It’s tempting to graze our way through the festivities, but try to let at least an hour pass between each snack so that saliva is able to carry out its duty of mormalising the mouth’s neutral ph status
10. ALWAYS brush teeth before going to bed as bacteria will work its wicked ways during the night
